Terms of use and privacy policy
Version 2026-09-28, in force since 9/28/2026.
1. What this site is
JVA Editora publishes its own books. This portal presents the catalogue, the editorial data for each work and, when the author allows it, the text for online reading.
2. Reader account
The catalogue, the news, the available samples and the open-reading books can all be browsed without an account. To buy books, subscribe to the collection, review works and keep your shelf and reading progress, you need an account.
You are responsible for keeping your password secret. After five wrong attempts in a row, access to the account is blocked for 15 minutes.
The e-mail has to be confirmed through the link we send. That confirmation is what lets us give access back if you forget your password.
3. What data we keep
- Name and e-mail, which you provide when signing up.
- Password, stored in protected form, which the team cannot read.
- Sign-up date and the version of the terms accepted, to record what was accepted and when.
- Your shelf and your reading progress, including bookmarked books, the last chapter opened and the date of the bookmark.
- Purchases and subscriptions, including the book or plan, amount, dates, payment status and transaction references.
- Reviews, including rating, comment and date. Published reviews appear under your reader name and can be removed by you or hidden by the publisher.
- Contact messages that you send through the form, with name, e-mail, subject and text.
We use cookies to keep your session and protect the forms. The language you pick in the switcher is also kept in a cookie, so the site opens in the same language next time; if you are signed in, it is kept on your account and applies on any device. Your reader appearance preferences are saved in your browser. Your IP address is used to limit repeated attempts on the forms and protect the service.
On your first visit, the site reads the time zone configured in your browser to choose the starting language — someone in Brazil opens the site in Portuguese. It is only the name of the zone, kept in a cookie; we do not use your IP address to locate you and we do not call any geolocation service. Picking a language in the switcher replaces that guess for good.
When you pay by card, your e-mail and the order details needed are sent to Stripe, which processes the payment. Card details go straight to Stripe. JVA Editora receives the confirmation and the transaction references, and never stores the full card number.
News images may be loaded from external sites. Loading them means your browser talks to those sites. Sharing links and links to external sources also lead to services with privacy policies of their own.
We do not sell your data. The site uses no third-party advertising or audience-analytics tools.
4. What we use it for
We use this data to run your account, process orders, unlock access to the books, manage subscriptions, show your reviews, keep your shelf, protect the service and answer your messages. The e-mails the platform sends are for address confirmation and password reset.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
A single purchase unlocks the book once payment is confirmed and allows the PDF to be downloaded when that format is available. The subscription unlocks online reading of the enabled titles for the paid period; downloading the PDF requires buying the book.
Price, period and payment options are shown on the book, plan and order pages. When paying by PIX arranged with the publisher, access depends on receipt being confirmed.
You can end the renewal under My account → Purchases and subscription. Once the cancellation is confirmed, reading stays available until the end of the paid period. For questions about billing, cancellation or refunds, contact the publisher through the contact form, quoting your order number.
6. Deleting your account
You can request deletion under My account → Delete account, by confirming your password. Before that, cancel the renewal of any subscription and download the PDFs you want to keep. Deletion removes your account, shelf, progress, reviews and purchase and subscription records from the platform. You lose access to the books through that account, and the operation cannot be undone.
Messages you have already sent through the contact form stay with the publisher, because they are correspondence received and are not part of the account. To have those erased too, ask through the contact form.
Deleting on the platform does not automatically erase the records kept by Stripe. For requests about those records or other personal data, get in touch with the publisher.
7. Book content
The texts published here are protected by copyright. Online reading is for personal use. Reproduction, redistribution or commercial use require written permission from the publisher.
8. Changes to these terms
When the terms change, the version is updated and your account gets a notice asking you to read and accept the new one. We keep the most recent version accepted and the date it was confirmed.
9. Contact
For questions about these terms, or to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal data, use the contact form at JVA Editora.
10. Language of this document
This document was written in Portuguese. Versions in other languages are courtesy translations; if they differ, the Portuguese version prevails.
